Congratulations NHLL National 11's Section 1 Champs!!!
The NHLL 11 year old National All Star Team (Managed by Joel Lebowitz) won the Section 1 Title last night. They beat Sparta 10-3.
They are now one of four teams to move onto the State Finals. They play Monday night at 6pm in Wall Township for their first game in the State Finals - team to play TBD.

Manager/Coach Evaluations!!!
The Manager Evaluation Survey is the key tool we use at NHLL to evaluate not only Team Managers, but also Coaches (from you child's team as well as Coaches from other teams), Umpires, and any League issues you may have. Please participate in this very important information gathering exercise, so we can make NHLL the best baseball program possible.

NHLL 2008 Fall Ball Registration is here!!!
Once again, NHLL is pleased to offer a Fall Baseball program beginning September 8th, 2008 and concluding October 18th, 2008.
The goal for the NHLL Fall-Ball program is for every player to have fun and to hone their baseball skills, techniques and knowledge in preparation for the next level for the NHLL 2009 Spring League.
In person registration will be held on Thursday, September 4th from 6:00-7:00pm at Jericho Field #1. Or you can mail the Fall Ball Registration (w/check) well in advance of that date (postmarked by 9/2/08) to NHLL P.O. Box 113, High Bridge, NJ 08829.

NHLL CODE OF CONDUCT!!!
NHLL Nation:
Just a reminder to all NHLL families of an expected Code of Conduct:
* I will never ridicule or yell at my child or another participant for making a mistake or losing a competition.
* I will respect and show appreciation for the volunteer Manager and coaches, who give their time for the benefit of my child.
* I will make every effort to make sure my child arrives on time for scheduled practices and games.
* I will encourage open communication.
* I realize that the team can be penalized for my misconduct. If required, I and any of my guests must obey a request by a league official or umpire to leave the vicinity of the field.
* I realize any misconduct on my part (or by a guest of mine) may result in a hearing and possible disciplinary action and can result in immediate loss of league eligibility for myself and possibly my child.
* I will not interrupt a manager or coach during a game or practice to resolve troublesome issues. I will discuss these issues privately and discreetly with the coach and if this is not satisfactory, I will contact the NHLL Board of Directors.
* I will inform the manager of any injury or physical disability that may affect the safety of my child or other children.
* At all times, I will support all players on my team and the opposing team.
* I will remember that children learn best by example. I will applaud good plays by my child's team and their opponents.
* I will always accept the umpires call on the field and will not publicly question the umpires judgment or honesty. If I have a valid concern, I will address the same with the NHLL Board of Directors at some point after the game.
* I will support all efforts to eliminate verbal and physical abuse from the game of baseball.
* I will not give detailed instructions to players during a game - That is the manager and coaches role.
* I will help maintain a positive environment .
* I will help to facilitate a winning attitude in my child by offering praise for competing fairly and doing their best.
* I will encourage my child to play by the rules and to resolve conflicts without resorting to hostility, intimidation or violence.
Please be advised that any altercation occurring at a NHLL baseball game or practice may result in immediate suspension and require an appearance by the offending actor to appear before the NHLL Board of Directors. The Board may, at its discretion, ban the offending actor or anyone else involved for the remainder of the season or any term deemed reasonable to the Board.

NHLL Mourns the Loss of Bob Voigt...

It is with utmost sadness that North Hunterdon Little League mourns the passing of a great husband, father and coach - Bob Voigt. Bob helped shape NHLL to the league that it is today with over 20 years of outstanding service and coaching in Little League. Over his 22 year Little League career, Bob helped shape many young kids to become great baseball players - but more importantly, to become fine young men!!! Bob's coaching and spirit was not just for the game, but transcended the diamond and through his example, he taught us all how to become better human beings. Bob has left a legacy of warm and wonderful memories for countless Little League kids. Years from now, those same kids will look back on their Little League memories with Bob and smile! Heaven must have needed a great coach and called you up! God Speed and Thank You Bob! You will not be forgotten!!!

The NHLL Manager's Guide provides all the valuable information that Managers/Coaches need: Game Rules & Regulations, Draft Procedures, Code Of Ethics, Manager's Responsibilities, Player Replacement Procedures, Playoff Rules, etc. And now it includes the NHLL Safety Manual. Please download and familiarize yourself with this important document.

In addition, please download the new Pitching Log and the new Pitching Eligibility Form here! These forms (respectively) help make it easy to count pitches for a scorekeeper, scorekeeper's helper, coach, etc. and allows the league to easily track the eligibility of baseball pitchers.

North Hunterdon Senior Baseball League Registration form
This is the 2008 NHSBL Registration form. Registrations are due back no later than February 23, 2008.
The 2008 North Hunterdon Senior Baseball League (NHSBL) season will start in early April and will finish in early June. The NHSBL is a league for 13, 14, and 15-year-old players from the North Hunterdon /Voorhees school district.
Note that the date for age determination in all divisions of Little League Baseball (including Senior League) will be April 30, 2008.
Weather permitting; the season will consist of a 14 game schedule, plus a single elimination playoff.
The registration fee is $170.
New players should attend an evaluation session in order to be placed on a team. At this time, the player evaluation date has not yet been set. A notice with time and location for the evaluation will be sent at a later time.
ABOUT NHSBL...
The North Hunterdon Senior Baseball League (NHSBL) is a competitively chartered Babe Ruth baseball league for players 13 to 15 years old (age as of April 30, 2008). Players must be in the North Hunterdon/Voorhees High School sending district to be eligible to play. The season runs from the beginning of April through the beginning of June, consisting of 14 games.
As part of the Babe Ruth program, all-star teams continue to play during the summer in the Babe Ruth sponsored national tournament. Teams from all over the state play-off for a berth to the National World Series. The league plays all of its games at the Stadium 31 complex located in High Bridge on Route 31 just before Spruce Run Reservoir. The complex is a professionally constructed baseball field with lights.
2008 New Regulation on 12-Year-Olds Goes Into Effect!!!
One of the agenda items voted on by District Administrators at the 24th Little League International Congress in Houston earlier this year, was a regulation requiring that all league age 12-year-olds must be placed onto a Major Division team.
The measure was enacted, with 68 percent of District Administrators (delegates) voting to approve it.
The new Regulation V. 1. reads:
The selection of players for the various teams within a league shall be in compliance with the Little League Draft Selection System as detailed in the Operating Manual. NOTE: All candidates who are league age twelve (12) must be drafted to a Little League Major Division team, or to a Junior League team. Exceptions can only be made with written approval from the District Administrator, and only if approved at the local league level by the Board of Directors and the parent of the candidate.
The purpose of the new regulation is to ensure that local leagues are using the Minor Division as a training ground, and not keeping capable 12-year-olds from moving up. For those 12-year-olds who may lack the skills to play at the Major Division level, there is a process for allowing them to play in the Minor Division, provided certain conditions are met. (However, the prohibition on 12-year-olds pitching in the Minor Division remains.)

2008 LITTLE LEAGUE PITCH COUNT REGULATIONS ARE HERE!!!
The new Little League Pitch Count Regulation Guide for Parents, Coaches and League Officials has been updated for 2008 and is now available! This is a must read for all NHLL participants. You can download these regulations here. This guide also provides pitching fundamentals and drills for Little League Pitchers.

As was previously announced, Little League baseball is changing its decades-old pitching rules, making the actual number of pitches delivered the deciding factor in determining pitching eligibility. Starting with the 2007 season, pitchers in all divisions of Little League, from age 7 to 18, will have specific limits for each game, based on their age. The number of pitches delivered in a game will determine the amount of rest the player must have before pitching again.

About North Hunterdon Little League
The NHLL program is a competitive league sanctioned by, and abiding by the rules of Little League Baseball Inc., Williamsport, PA. There are five levels of play at NHLL, ranging in a step-wise progression from Rookie ball to the Major leagues with a team roster of 12 players for each team. Each division, as defined below, consists of an American and National league. In order to participate at the AA, AAA, or Major league level, a player must tryout to be eligible for team selection. Tryouts will be held in late January at North Hunterdon High School.
NHLL is a non-profit organization and relies heavily on the families of the league for their participation and support as volunteers. Please support our program by volunteering.
NHLL fields 10 All-Star teams at the end of its regular season. These teams are chosen based on regular season performance and a try-out. Playing up, at NHLL, does not guarantee a player a spot on an All-Star team. (Example: A player playing as a ten year old in the majors is not guaranteed a spot on the 9-10 year-old All-Star team.). This applies to all age levels.
Major League
Players age 10 to 12 years old are eligible to tryout for Majors. Beginning with the 2008 season, all 12 year olds will automatically be placed in the Major league division. Parents who wish that their 12 year old NOT play in the Majors must notify NHLL in writing prior to the draft. All 11 old players must play in the Major league division if selected. Qualifying 10-year-old players have the option of choosing to play in AAA and not the Majors if they desire. During the season, if for any reason a Major league player is unable to participate, a replacement player will be chosen from the AAA division. (Players interested in playing in the majors, MUST attend a try-out to be ELIGIBLE for this division or he/she will play AAA-Ball).
AAA Division
Players age 9 to 11 years old are eligible to tryout for AAA. The AAA Division plays with the same rules as the Majors. Qualifying 9-year-old players have the option of choosing to play in AA and not AAA if they desire. During the season, if for any reason a AAA league player is unable to participate, a replacement player will be chosen from the AA division. (9 year old players interested in playing in AAA MUST attend a try-out to be ELIGIBLE for this division or he/she may play AA- Ball).
AA Division
The AA Division is for those players ages 8-10 (with some 7's). This is a player pitch division. Field limitations may limit the amount of AA teams. As a result, children who do not make a team will be wait-listed and asked to play as openings arise at the AA level during the regular season. (Players age 7 MUST attend a try-out to be ELIGIBLE for this division).
A Division
The A-Ball program has proven to be an excellent transition from our instructional Rookie Ball league to our competitive upper division leagues. This league is for 7 year olds and those 6 year olds who played Rookie Ball at NHLL the previous year. The A-Ball season is mostly a coach pitch division, however some player pitching may occur as well.
Rookie Ball
NHLL welcomes those children participating in the league for the first time. The Rookie League is for 5 and 6 year olds and is an instructional coach pitch program where the T may be used in addition to coach pitching. This program sets the stage for the more competitive years ahead.
All-Star Teams
A select number of players will be invited to participate in NHLL All-Star teams, which will participate in age-specific tournaments (beginning with the 8 year olds) following the close of the regular season. Players are selected for All Star teams based on their playing performance during the regular season, as well as their attitude and sportsmanship. If your child is selected, you will be asked to commit to his/her full participation to ensure that these teams are competitive at the tournament level of play. Typically, All-Star players will have a game or practice on a daily basis from June 15th through August 1st. A full participation commitment is absolutely mandatory for participation on these All Star teams, and you should be aware of this. NHLL's 10 and 12 year All-Star teams participate in the Williamsport Tournament, which culminates in the now-famous Little League World Series in Williamsport, PA in late August of each summer.
